To lay or not to lay, that is the question. The public loves to bet those popular, big favs. They’re ranked teams with winning records that are usually on television. Well, folks, I have uncovered four games between Thursday and Saturday with big numbers, that I feel there is value in taking the dogs.
Utah State +20.5 at Wyoming: There is no argument from me that the Aggies are a horrible team. But they have played four games against four good teams. No, they haven’t covered yet. But they also haven’t been nearly a three-touchdown underdog yet either. Wyoming is no world-beater and they have been idle since their November 5, ten-point loss at Colorado State as a three-point fav. They will be a bit stale with such a layoff.
Syracuse +18 at Louisville: The Cardinals haven’t been this big of a favorite since September of last year. The Orange are a mess. But giving a mess like this nearly three scores is dangerous. Louisville can certainly outscore them, that’s not the issue. We have seen them give up points this season. With a line the big, I have got against a team that is just 6-14-1 ATS the last 21 in conference play.
Indiana +20.5 at Ohio State: Giving a team that is 4-0 both SU and ATS with wins over Penn State, Rutgers, Michigan, and Michigan State, nearly three touchdowns astound me. Yes, Ohio State is one of the most-well-balanced teams in the nation. They, knowing how good Indiana is playing, will come in here with a conservative game plan as not to make mistakes. The Hoosiers have momentum and are 7-2 ATS the last nine meetings with the Buckeyes.
Kentucky +30.5 at Alabama: The Wildcats bring the 24th ranked defense in the nation in here. Granted, Mac Jones and the explosive Alabama offense can put up points on everyone. But head coach Nick Saban has a liking for his adversary, Mark Stoops. Saban, once the game is in hand, will take his foot off the gas here. The road team is 6-0 ATS the last six meetings. Kentucky is 10-1 ATS the last 11 vs. winners, 5-1 ATS the last six as an underdog, and 15-7 ATS the last 22 overall.
Utah State +20.5, Syracuse +18, Indiana +20.5, Kentucky +30.5
