Santos Laguna won the Mexican first-division title with a 2-1 victory over Monterrey on Sunday. Daniel Luduena and Oribe Peralta scored for Santos Laguna to earn the win. The title is Santos Laguna's fourth since the club was founded in 1983.
Didier Drogba was at the heart of Chelsea's unlikely comeback victory in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich on Saturday night, scoring the tying goal in the 88th minute and the winner on the final penalty kick of the 4-3 shootout. With only 2 minutes to go and Chelsea down 1-0 to the German team in its home stadium, Drogba soared high from a corner to head home the equalizer and force 30 minutes of extra time, which ended 1-1. When it was still level after four penalty kicks each, the 34-year-old from Ivory Coast who makes a habit of scoring crucial goals did so again, sliding home the winner and giving Chelsea its first Champions League title. "The way we turned things around against Napoli, Barcelona, I think we deserve this trophy," Drogba said. "The last kick of the season and what a way to do it now."
Former welterweight titleholder Andre Berto tested positive for a banned substance, and his June 23rd rematch with Victor Ortiz has been canceled. Berto tested positive for the steroid norandrosterone, with both his 'A' and 'B' samples. Berto has denied using a banned substance.
The new Chevrolet SS will replace the Impala in the Sprint Cup Series in 2013. Jack Wilshere, Arsenal's midfielder will have minor surgery to cure a long standing knee problem. Wilshere, 20, missed the entire season last year after struggling to recover from ankle surgery. He has been ruled out of this summer's Euro Championships, but some have suggested he could be ready for, and named to the English Olympic team.
Kurt Busch was fined $50,000 and placed on probation until July 25th for his actions during and after Saturday night's Sprint Cup race at Darlington. NASCAR announced that Busch received the penalties for reckless driving on pit road late in the race and for bumping Ryan Newman's car on pit road after the race.
