Teams: The teams listed are the teams playing in the game with the away team listed first and the home team listed second on the bottom line.

Line: The number in the Line column beside the top team is the line for the total or over/under. This number is the predicted number by the bookmakers for how many points both teams are going to score in the game. Players can bet on whether they think the actual total amount points scored by both teams will be over or under the total line. The number in the Line column beside the bottom team is the actual point spread of the home team. If the number is negative (-) then the home team is favored by that many points and has to win by more then that number of points to cover the spread. If the number is positive (+) then the home team is an underdog and as long as they don't lose by more then that many points, then they cover the spread.

PF/PA: Points For and Points Against which is how many points the teams scores and how many points the team gives up.

SU: Straight-up is the teams actual win/loss record.

ATS: Against-the-spread, which is the teams record against-the-spread. For example how many times did the team cover the spread set by the bookmakers versus how many times did the team not cover the spread. It is possible for the team to not cover the spread but win the game if they were favoured and vice versa to cover the spread but not win the game if the team is an underdog.

O/U/P: Over / Under / Push, which is the teams record going over the total, going under the total, and pushing (tie) on the total line.

Rookie quarterback Colt McCoy is starting Cleveland's final exhibition gameb.

McCoy, who slid to the third round in April's draft before the Browns selected him at No. 85 overall, is expected to play at least one half against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

McCoy has had a shaky preseason. The former Texas star has completed 15 of 26 passes for 101 yards and two interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 57.7.

McCoy is not in danger of being cut. The Browns will devote this season to him learning behind Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.

When Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger meets with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday, the Roethlisberger team will reportedly ask to reduce Big Ben's six-game suspension in half.

ESPN.com's Sal Paolantonio is reporting that Steelers president Arthur J. Rooney II will join Roethlisberger's team in New York to support his QB's case.

Goodell suspended Roethlisberger six games for violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy in April. Goodell said he would consider reducing the length of the suspension if Roethlisberger complied with the league-imposed conditions.

Observers believed Goodell would reduce the suspension to four games, but it's expected that Roethlisberger's attorney, David Cornwell, will ask for a greater reduction in the suspension to three games, Paolantonio reports.

Derek Anderson will start at quarterback in the Arizona Cardinals' final exhibition game. Matt Leinart? He might be on his way out of Phoenix.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Cardinals are calling and e-mailing teams to inform them that Leinart, now an unhappy backup, is available. Glazer reports several teams have confirmed to him that they have been contacted by the Cardinals. It's not known what Arizona wants in a trade.

Earlier Tuesday, coach Ken Whisenhunt discussed why he moved Leinart behind Anderson on the depth chart. During an appearance on ESPN Radio's Scott Van Pelt Show, Whisenhunt seemed to be questioning Leinart's leadership and intangibles.

"There is a lot that goes with it besides just statistics. It's more about how you handle the team, how you handle situations. There is a certain quality that you have to have in that position and that is all part of the evaluation process," Whisenhunt said. "And I think, more importantly, is how your team responds to that player and how you handle that role. I'm not talking about Matt. I'm just saying I feel like he has made great progress in that area, but, for whatever reason, we have not performed the way we have needed to perform as an offense."

Buccaneers CB Talib suspended 1 game
Tampa Bay cornerback Aqib Talib will miss the Buccaneers' regular season opener after being suspended one game without pay for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

The third-year pro also was fined one additional game check stemming from Talib punching a cab driver in August 2009. The suspension was announced Tuesday, two days before the club's preseason finale at Houston.

Talib initially was charged with resisting arrest without violence and simple battery. He later reached a pre-trial intervention agreement on the simple battery charge.

Arguably the team's best defensive player, Talib was a first-round draft pick in 2008 and led the Bucs with five interceptions last season.

Derrick Ward's unproductive stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is over.

The seventh-year running back was released Tuesday when the team trimmed the roster to 75 players. Receiver Terrence Nunn was waived, and linebacker Jon Alston was placed on injured reserve to get down to the limit for the final preseason game.

Ward signed a four-year, $17 million contract as an unrestricted free agent in 2009, moving to Tampa Bay after five seasons with the New York Giants. He was a 1,000-yard rusher two years ago with the Giants, but struggled to make the transition to a new offense. He wound up playing a limited role as a backup to Cadillac Williams.

He rushed for 409 yards and one touchdown in 2009. He also scored two touchdowns on pass receptions.

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to return from an ankle injury and play in this week's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions.

"I plan on him playing," Bills coach Chan Gailey said in remarks distributed by the team. "No question."

Lynch ran after practice Monday.

"He kept up with everybody else, which is important, but we'll know a lot more [today] when we have a real practice," Gailey said.

Lynch said he's making progress

"I'm feeling pretty good," he said. "You said, 'coming back' It's still a work in progress. I'm just trying to get it right."

Lynch predicted he'll be back for the Bills' home opener against the Miami Dolphins.

"Yeah, I should," he said. "That was my goal. I feel pretty confident in getting there."

Former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett has signed a one-year contract with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.

Nighthawks general manager Rick Mueller said Clarett met Monday with team officials and UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue, who gave his blessing.

Clarett ran into trouble after leading Ohio State to the 2002 national championship. He served 3 1/2 years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar, then spent 4 1/2 months in a lockdown dormitory.

He needed a judge's permission to try out for the Nighthawks over the weekend.

Dez Bryant said Sunday he will play in the Dallas Cowboys' final exhibition game this week against the Miami Dolphins.

The rookie wide receiver made the announcement via his Twitter feed. "Back in action Thursday night!!!!!" was Bryant's one-line message.

Bryant, Dallas' first-round draft pick last April, has missed most of the preseason because of a high ankle sprain.

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Saturday that Bryant will be available this week.

"He'll be able to play. Physically he will be ready to go," Jones told reporters while attending the Cowboys' exhibition against the Houston Texans. "It's a question of if it's worth some of the risk. If we end up playing our regulars, then that might make a difference. We might have thought differently if he had been out there without a full set of our players, but that might be something we'd consider since there's a chance our starters are out there."

Dallas coach Wade Phillips is considering whether to play the starters Thursday after their sub-par performance against the Texans.

The Washington Redskins may be without their splashiest offseason acquisition when they open the regular season in two weeks. Donovan McNabb has been battling a left ankle sprain, and coach Mike Shanahan told the Associated Press his starting quarterback's status for Week 1 game against archrival Dallas is up in the air.

"I really don't know for sure," Shanahan said Sunday. "That's why it's day by day. We'll see how it goes."

While AP offers the possibility that the ambiguous statement might have been made for the Cowboys' benefit, there is real reason for the Redskins to be cautious with their new franchise QB.

McNabb, who was hurt in the team's second preseason game, against the Ravens, hasn't practiced since. He sat out Friday's third preseason game against the Jets, and was seen wearing a black sleeve on his left leg on the sidelines on Sunday.

Although the starters don't typically play in the fourth preseason game, Shanahan noted there is enough soreness in the leg that McNabb would have been ruled out injury-wise for Thursday's matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. As a further preventive measure, Redskins top backup QB Rex Grossman isn't being risked on Sept. 2, just in case he's needed to play Dallas 10 days later.

As a Philadelphia Eagle, McNabb was 11-8 in his career against the Cowboys. His two more recent starts were at Dallas, in Week 17 and in the wild-card round last season, both defeats.

Grossman last started an NFL game as a Chicago Bear in November, 2008. His most recent start against Dallas, in September of '07 was a 34-10 loss in which he was sacked and intercepted three times each.

The Cincinnati Bengals have released wide receiver Antonio Bryant who got a four-year, $28 million deal in March but has been sidelined by a bad knee during training camp.

Also on Sunday, the Bengals put safety Gibril Wilson on injured reserve with damaged ligaments in his left knee and they waived rookie long snapper Mike Windt.

The Bengals chose Bryant over receiver Terrell Owens in March, thinking he was a better complement to receiver Chad Ochocinco. Bryant had surgery to repair cartilage in his left knee last year, and it began bothering him over the summer.

The Bengals signed Owens at the start of camp, giving them another option. Bryant didn't appear in any of the four preseason games.

Jets linebacker Calvin Pace will miss the first month of the regular season with a broken foot, the New York Daily News reports.

Pace will miss six weeks after sustaining the injury during the Jets' preseason game on Friday. Pace, who led the Jets with eight sacks last season, left the game in the third quarter. Pace was seen wearing a protective boot in the locker room afterward.

"It's a big loss, but we're fortunate we have a lot of depth at that position," coach Rex Ryan told the Post.

Jason Taylor, signed in the offseason to be a situational pass rusher, will replace Pace in the lineup. Taylor has four tackles and no sacks in limited playing time so far.

Pace missed four games last season under suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy. The Jets were 3-1 during his absence.

Taylor is the NFL's active leader with 127.5 career sacks but turns 36 on Tuesday and did little in the Jets' first three preseason games.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is set to start tonight against the Denver Broncos, but coach Mike Tomlin indicated that Dennis Dixon will see action with the first team offense.

"Dennis Dixon has done a great job," Tomlin said. "We thought he was deserving of some first-team snaps with our people."

Meanwhile, the regular season opener quarterback plans remain under wraps as Tomlin sees no benefit in letting Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith on whether it's going to be Dixon or Byron Leftwich with Roethlisberger suspended for six to four games for violating the NFL personal conduct policy.

"It's probably beneficial for us to hold our cards, Tomlin said. "Coach Smith does an awesome job in Atlanta. I have a great deal of respect for him. But I'd imagine it's going to be increasingly difficult for him to play us if we don't provide that information for him."

Albert Haynesworth is moving up the depth chart and maybe even smoothing things over with Mike Shanahan.

The Washington Redskins big defensive lineman played extensively with the starters after entering in the first quarter of the 16-11 victory over the New York Jets on Friday night.

I felt good, Haynesworth said. But, I've still got a lot of work to do.

Haynesworth, who missed numerous practices because of a failed conditioning test, a sore knee and then an illness, said last week that Shanahan underplayed his medical condition.

Reports said Haynesworth was suffering from a muscle condition called rhabdomyolysis, but Shanahan told AOL Fanhouse last Sunday he was not aware of that. Shanahan had given various reasons for Haynesworth's inability to practice, eventually attributing it to a headache.

The two spoke on Monday, and Haynesworth said they talked some more during the game because I saved his life from getting hit in the head with a ball.

Shanahan said he wanted get Haynesworth about 30 plays.

I'm going over for dinner to his house, probably tonight, Haynesworth said. We'll sit, have a cigar and talk. What I said last week is behind me. I don't even remember what I said.
