Washington Huskies: A trip to the Maaco Bowl is the reward for Coach Steve Sarkisian and the Huskies (7-5 straight-up, 7-5 against the spread), who will face Boise State at Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium. Washington endured a very tough slate to the begin the season with seven eventual bowl teams among the first eight opponents. That stretch included victories over Pac-12 champion Stanford and then-No. 7 Oregon State. The Huskies ranked 30th in the country in total defense (353.3 yards per game) and 16th in pass defense (188.9 ypg). Directing the offense is junior quarterback Keith Price, who closed the campaign with nine touchdown passes against just one interception over the final three games. Sophomore Bishop Sankey finished 25th in the nation with 1,234 yards rushing and scored 15 times. Washington saw a string of four consecutive wins and covers end in a 31-28 overtime loss at rival Washington State in the regular-season finale, and the team rewarded "under" bettors with a 7-4 record in 11 lined games.
Boise State Broncos: This will be the third straight Maaco Bowl appearance for the Broncos (10-2 SU, 6-6 ATS), who reached the 10-win mark for a seventh consecutive season. Boise State's two losses, at Michigan State to open the season and later to San Diego State, were by a combined six points. Offense had been the calling card for many BSU teams in the past, but it was the defense that led Coach Chris Petersen's squad in 2012. The Broncos ranked sixth in fewest points surrendered (14.9 per game) and ninth in total yardage allowed (304.7 ypg), and were particularly stingy through the air where opponents averaged just 163.4 ypg (fourth nationally). Boise won its final three games of the campaign but managed to cover just once in the last four contests. The Broncos have won and covered each of the last two Maaco Bowls, a 26-3 decision over Utah in 2010 and last year's 56-24 victory vs. Arizona State as two-TD favorites.
