The Bearcats failed to cover the 7½-point spread vs. the Crimson Tide and needed a last-second shot from Cashmere Wright to avoid overtime.

LBSU 49ers: Possibly looking ahead to a big road trip that starts with a visit to Syracuse, the Niners (3-4 SU, 2-4 ATS) dropped a 64-59 decision at home to Fresno State on Monday when they were laying 4½. Coach Dan Monson's squad left 15 points at the free-throw line in that contest and is shooting just 61.4 percent from the charity stripe on the season (319th in the country).

Syracuse Orange: An 84-48 waltz past Eastern Michigan on Monday left the Orange (6-0 SU, 4-0 ATS) unblemished on the season. Syracuse was giving up 24 in the game that saw five players score at least 11 points. The Orange rank 20th in the nation with 80.8 ppg, paced by James Southerland's leading scoring average of 16.7, and 12th with 43.5 rebounds per contest.

Creighton Bluejays: Coming off an upset loss to Boise State, the Bluejays (7-1 SU, 5-1 ATS) got back in the win column last Saturday with an 80-51 pasting of St. Joe's. Creighton shot out to a 24-5 lead in the first 10 minutes and was paced by Player of the Year candidate Doug McDermott, who scored a game-high 23 points. McDermott is 17th in the country with 21.3 ppg and also leads the 'Jays with 7.1 rebounds per game.

Nebraska Cornhuskers: Coach Tim Miles and the Cornhuskers (6-1 SU, 4-2 ATS) posted their second consecutive win and cover with Monday's 63-51 victory vs. Southern Cal. Ray Gallegos connected on six of his 10 shots from outside the arc to grab boxscore honors with 20 points. The 'Huskers are in payback mode against their rivals from Omaha after dropping a 76-66 decision as 8-point 'dogs at Creighton last year.
