Sunny days are here again now that the Pac-12 takes the field again. No, it’s true, the Pac-12 doesn’t have as many representatives in the Top-25 as does the newly-started Big Ten. Fans and sports bettors alike are thrilled as the last Power-Five conference to kick off their campaign start this week.
From a betting point of view, here is a quick breakdown of which teams to bet on and which teams to bet against this season.
The only conference rep to crack the polls at No. 12, Oregon is the best and most-explosive team in this league. However, oddsmakers know it too and will inflate their lines, looking to trap you. When they are a small fav, I will look at them. When they lay two or three touchdowns or more, I will switch sides immediately and play their opponent.
Popular? Yes, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why USC is so highly rated for the 2020 season. Their defense was a doormat last year once again. Reports are that they ranked 9th in this year’s Pac-12 recruitment class. They will come in big favorites early on and will let followers down yet again. Until they can stop anyone from scoring on them, I am going against the Trojans, and go against them big time.
In my opinion, Washington is a better team on paper than USC and can bring you value. But, and this is a big but, they have been a nightmare as an underdog, covering just once in their last nine in that role. Be careful when you’re getting points with this team, as they will make your money disappear faster than a Las Vegas divorce.
ASU is going to be one of the biggest surprises this season in the Pac-12. They are going to be a covering money-maker in 2020. This is a team on the rise and a real squad to make money with.
Utah is another ATS machine, covering their last five at home and eight of their last nine in Pac-12 play. Once again, follow the Utes to the bank.
Stanford will continue to crush bettors, no matter the situation. Whether in conference play, as a dog, on the road, or overall, play against the Cardinal red and make some green.
Oregon State is good in the dog role. WSU is going to make any followers broke again this season. Cal is too erratic. Arizona is one of the worst teams in the conference at covering and should continue to disappoint. The jury is still out on UCLA and Colorado. Time will tell. Good luck and enjoy the Pac-12, guys.
