When sports first opened after the pandemic, we were all happy. Universally, sports give us fans a feeling of unity and healthy competition. We can all sit around our televisions and root our favorite teams in.
For us who make our money betting on sports, after months of no real income, we were ecstatic. Baseball and pro basketball wasn’t easy in the beginning. Not knowing who is pitching or a starting-five was trying.
Handicapping during the current health crisis is pretty darn difficult, my friends. As a professional handicapper, sports bettor, columnist, and radio personality, it has been frustrating, to say the least. Football is a bit easier as it is not a daily sport. So, we have a few days to adapt and make alterations.
Like many, I personally have my own regimented way I handicap. At the beginning of the week, after completing my two sets of power ratings and applying them, I then compare games and as I do, I circle a few that also stand out to me. Well, last week, there was at least four I had circled or liked that eventually were called off. This week, there are already more than that.
Below is a list of college football games that, as of Wednesday morning, will not be played this week:
Ohio @ Miami (Ohio) Cancelled
UAB @ UTEP Cancelled
Wake Forest @ Duke PPD
Charlotte @ Marshall PPD
Mississippi @ Texas A&M PPD
UL Monroe @ Louisiana Tech Cancelled
Georgia Tech @ Miami PPD
Arizona State @ Colorado Cancelled
Houston @ SMU PPD
Navy @ South Florida PPD
There was a rumor that the UNLV/Colorado State game was going to be cancelled but as of Wednesday morning, the game is still scheduled.
My advice is to constantly check updates on cancelled or postponed games. No need to do all your homework on the games and go down to the sportsbook only to find out the game has been taken off the schedule. I am sure there will be more than just the games listed above that will not take place this week. Good luck folks.
