Nittany Lions Fall From Grace

Gone are the days of Jack Ham, Curt Warner, Matt Millen, and yes even John Cappelletti. Wow has the Nittany Lions fallen from grace? The 0-4 start is just the second for Penn State in school history, the other coming in 2001. They are also just the fourth team to start 0-4 after being ranked in the preseason AP Top-10, and the first since Pitt in 1984.

Head coach, James Franklin switched quarterbacks in the second half of last week’s game and the team made a run of it but still fell short to Nebraska, 30-23. Not only are they 0-4 SU, but this team is point spread poison going 0-4 ATS this season too.

Iowa Battled Back From a Poor Start

After starting the season with two tough losses by a combined five points, Iowa has won and covered their last two outings with authority. They shellacked Michigan State and Minnesota by a combined 84-14. Iowa once again has a well-balanced stop-unit. The Hawkeyes defense is playing as we expected. They also have an emerging star on their offensive line in LT, Alaric Jackson. This future potential first-round draft pick is giving defensive linemen nightmares opening holes for a couple of capable running backs. This is allowing new quarterback, Spencer Petras to get on track.

The last three meetings in this series have been decided by a total of 13 points. They always play each other tough. But a combination of the problems Penn State is having overall and the rise of the Iowa defense, adds up to another Nittany Lions goose egg. Until this team can show me, they can win and win consistently, they are going to be a go-against folks.
