Sports fans, if you’re like me, you like both betting on games during the week and also going into the weekend with a bankroll.
Well, I have isolated not one but two games on Friday night that you can put together in a two-team parlay, go to sleep and wake up Saturday morning with some money in your account.
I wrote several preseason columns and one specifically was about how good ASU is when getting points. They are money as an underdog. But this team is very Jekyll & Hyde. They may be good when getting points, but the exact opposite becomes fact when laying points.
They are horrible in the role of a favorite, going a miserable, 1-9 ATS the last 10 when in that role. This is also a team that has a solid ground game yet has faced two less than stellar defenses and has accounted for a mere, 22.5 PPG. Granted Zona is plain old bad. But this is a rivalry game in which the coaches and teams know each other very well. Let’s not forget that the Wildcats have covered the last two in this series too. The underdog is 4-0 ATS the last four meetings and the home team is 6-1 ATS the last seven matchups. They may be ugly, but Zona will cover here.
Let’s put aside the fact that Nevada has taken the last three meetings in this series by an average of 19.0 PPG. Forget the fact that both teams score about the same and allow about the same. There is something we cannot overlook. The disparity between Nevada’s 9th ranked passing unit and San Jose State’s 45th ranked pass defense.
Look for Wolf Pack QB, Carson Strong (2,327 yards passing, 69.5% completion rate, 21/4) to carve up the Spartans secondary. Nevada is 11-5-1 ATS the last 17 meetings in this series. Nevada has what it takes to win this one close.
Wildcats +11.5, Wolf Pack +2.5
