In the article which follows you’ll find information relating to recent ‘against the spread’ statistics in college football. Please note, all stats included in this article are correct at the time of writing.
I went to a famous high school in NYC named Xavier. It was military, all boys, run by the Jesuits, and established in 1847. In 1986 we had a speaker come in to address the junior class about becoming seniors and applying to colleges.
The first half-dozen schools recommended out of the speaker’s mouth, none of us students ever heard of. What's the point I am trying to make, you say? Sometimes, the most well-known, aren't necessarily the best.

Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Georgia top the polls and are some of the nation's most well-known universities. Winning ball games and covering ball games are two completely different things.
You'd be surprised to know some of the teams that are the best ATS this season, are some of the least popular. With teams that have played more than just one game, Arkansas (4-0 ATS) and Tulsa (3-0 ATS) are the only two teams in college football that are perfect against the spread. BYU is 5-1 ATS.
Wake Forest, South Alabama, Marshall, Coastal Carolina, and Kansas State are all 4-1 ATS. Georgia State, Charlotte, Missouri, South Carolina, and Oklahoma State are all 3-1 ATS. Army rounds out the best of the ATS bunch at 5-2 ATS.
On the flip side, several teams have been crushing bettors. Two teams have yet to cover a single contest in 2020. Western Kentucky is 0-6 ATS while Kansas, not to be mistaken with their storied college basketball team, is 0-5 ATS.
Several other teams have been killing followers. UL Monroe is 1-5 ATS and Pitt is 1-5-1 ATS. The once-powerful money-maker, Central Florida is just 1-4 against the number while Southern Miss also joins them at 1-4 ATS.
Memphis, Mississippi State, and the once fan fav, Appalachian State are all 1-3 ATS. Rounding out the worst teams to bet are two very well-known and long-time winning squads in Tennessee and Texas, both at 1-3-1 ATS.
We all love those Top-25 teams. But, are you in this for love or are you in this for money? Many lesser-known teams have been and will continue to get us paid. Follow your head and not your heart, sports fans.
