Former league MVP and 10-time all-star Allen Iverson is free to sign a contract with any National Basketball Association club after clearing waivers on Thursday. Iverson becomes an unrestricted free agent after a falling out with the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis waived him through the league after only three games this season and no team claimed the 34-year-old guard during the 48-hour period, allowing him to become a free agent.
Ginobili (groin) has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Jazz, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Manu will undergo further tests on this groin injury on Thursday, an injury that is reportedly unrelated to the hamstring troubles he'd recently been battling. Don't be surprised to see Ginobili miss a couple of games, especially given his injury history.
Wizards forward Antawn Jamison has made his season debut, starting against the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing Washington's first nine games. Jamison injured his right shoulder during an exhibition game last month. After his shoulder healed, he was sidelined with the flu.
Los Angeles Clippers reserve guard Kareem Rush has a serious ligament tear in his right knee. Team spokesman Rob Raichlen says an MRI shows Rush tore his anterior cruciate ligament when his knee buckled during the first quarter of the Clippers' game at New Orleans on Tuesday night. The injury occurred as Rush hopped into the lane to receive a pass and then crashed to the floor, holding his knee while grimacing in pain.
Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson is having surgery again. The All-Star point guard will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus, the team said. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night's win against Charlotte. This is the second straight season he has been sidelined.
Allen Iverson fully intends to resume his NBA career, preferably this season, his personal manager told Yahoo! Sports on Monday night. Iverson reached an agreement on Monday to part ways with the Memphis Grizzlies after previously taking a leave of absence from the team. He is expected to clear waivers in a couple of days and become a free agent.
The Golden State Warriors have found a home for disgruntled Stephen Jackson, sending the guard to Charlotte in a four-player trade. The Bobcats announced Monday that they acquired Jackson and guard Acie Law for guard Raja Bell and forward Vladimir Radmanovic.
