Week 6 NFL Picks - Sunday October 14

By: Don Best Staff | Thursday, October 11, 2012

The 2012 NFL campaign zips past the one-third point this week, and the experts at Don Best are here to help you along with analysis and winning picks for eight games on Sunday's football betting card.

Quarterbacks are always in the spotlight, but that will be especially true in East Rutherford, NJ where the Indianapolis Colts travel to meet the New York Jets.  Colts rookie Andrew Luck helped pull off a stunning rally and comeback last week with a 30-27 win over the Green Bay Packers as 6½-point underdogs.  Jets signal caller Mark Sanchez, meanwhile, tossed a pair of picks in New York's 23-17 loss to the Texans on Monday night, and ranks 31st in the NFL with a 66.6 passer rating.

New York is a 3-3½ point favorite this Week 6 tilt and the total sits at 43.  The teams have split the last 10 meetings with the Jets 5-2 against the spread the last seven.

Another one o'clock game this Sunday finds the unbeaten Atlanta Falcons at home to tackle the Oakland Raiders.  Matt Ryan is having an outstanding season for the high-flying Falcons, ranking second among pro quarterbacks with 13 touchdowns and second with a 106.1 passer rating.  Carson Palmer and the Raiders come out of their bye week with a 1-3 record (SU & ATS), and will look to pull the upset as 9-point underdogs with a 48½-point total.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are on the road against a stingy Seattle Seahawks defense.  The Pats are 3½-point favorites as they hope to extend their winning streak to three games.  It won't be easy against Seattle who has allowed 70 points in its first five games, the fewest in the NFL.

NFL betting numbers are just now starting to appear for the contest in the nation's capital between the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings.  The reason behind the delay was the status of Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III who suffered a mild concussion in last Sunday's loss to the Falcons.  Last year's Heisman trophy winner has been cleared to play, and the 'Skins started as 1½-2½ point chalk for this game with a total yet to be released.

The eight games previewed in this week's video are listed below (all times Eastern).  Grab the Don Best Pro Odds and make sure to check back each and every week for NFL picks and analysis from the pros.
