Baylor Bears: Art Briles brings the Bears (3-2 straight up, 2-3 against the spread) into this 102nd meeting with Texas looking to extend their streak to three consecutive wins over the Longhorns for the first time in the series. Baylor's win in Austin two years ago was its first at Memorial Stadium since 1991, and the Bears have covered four of the last five matchups with Texas. The Bears let a close game get out of hand last week when TCU scored 21 points in the fourth quarter for a 49-21 triumph. That followed a wild 70-63 defeat at West Virginia two weeks earlier, leaving Baylor 121st out of 124 schools in points allowed (41.6 per game). Senior QB Nick Florence has already racked up nearly 1,900 yards passing and 18 TD tosses for the Bears who are second in the nation in total offense (567.6 ypg), but he's also been picked off nine times, including four INTs last week vs. the Horned Frogs.
Texas Longhorns: It has been a tough week for Mack Brown and the Longhorns (4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS) following a 63-21 rout at the hands of rival Oklahoma last Saturday. The Sooners rolled up more than 670 yards of offense in the game, 343 on the ground. It was the second straight setback for the Longhorns after West Virginia's 48-45 win in Austin the week before. Like Baylor, Texas is also struggling defensively with teams averaging nearly 450 yards per game (102nd) against the stop unit, over 200 of that coming on the ground. The 'Horns have three key injuries to note with QB David Ash (wrist) and RB Malcolm Brown (ankle) probable for Saturday's tilt while LB Jordan Hicks (hip) is questionable. Texas holds a 73-24-4 lead in the series with Baylor, and had reeled off 12 straight wins before the Bears' victory in 2010. Both teams bring 4-game 'over' strings into the contest, with six of the last eight games in the series also skipping above the total.
