Rich Rodriguez is on the hot seat at Michigan after a 1-7 Big Ten mark in ’09.
The Michigan Wolverines host the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday in a game that can be seen on ABC or ESPN2.
The Wolverines are at home and have the big-name reputation, but it could be that Connecticut is the better team. The Huskies could win the Big East this college football betting season while Michigan will be doing well to have a winning season. Because of their marquee name and because they are at home, the Wolverines are favored.
Michigan is a 3-point favorite with a 'total' of 54 at SBG Global.
Michigan has done nothing so far under head coach Rich Rodriguez and he is feeling the heat to turn things around. A Big Ten record of 1-7 is simply not acceptable at Michigan and a lot more is expected out of Michigan this NCAA football betting season. It may not happen.
The Wolverines have Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson at quarterback but neither has really inspired a lot of confidence. Michigan’s defense was not very good a year ago as they gave up almost 400 yards per game. The Wolverines are okay upfront but they have major problems in the secondary.
Connecticut comes into the 2010 season with a lot of experience. Quarterback Zach Frazer and running back Jordan Todman are back and they have an experienced offensive line in front of them. The defense allowed just 23.6 points per game last year and they have a lot of returning starters.
The concern is in the secondary as they allowed 17 passing TDs last year. That weakness may not be a problem though, as Michigan doesn’t really have the passing attack to hurt Connecticut.
Here are the college betting stats for Saturday’s game. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Wolverines. Connecticut has been great on the road lately. The Huskies are 7-0 ATS in their last seven road games. UConn is 34-16-1 ATS in its last 51 non-conference games.
The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last five September games, but the Wolverines are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.

Looking at the total, the 'over' is 7-1 in the Huskies' last eight trips to the gridiron. The 'over' is 5-2 in the Wolverines' last seven home games.
