Excluding the upcoming Army-Navy game, the regular season in college football has come to a close. Both the BCS Standings and the Don Best Linemakers Poll agree that the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide are the top-2 teams in the nation, but the national rankings are also expectedly falling closer to where the oddsmakers have them placed.
Look who has finally made their way back into the top-10 of the BCS, Wisconsin. Kenny White’s poll has been backing the Badgers all year long even after they suffered two heartbreaking losses in a row. They finish the 15th week ranked No. 6 according to White and have a Heisman hopeful in outstanding running back Montee Ball.
A couple of SEC teams were in situations where they were either overrated or underrated and now fit in the right spot now that everything is said and done. The Arkansas Razorbacks were vaulted up to the No. 3 spot at one point but now sit at No. 6 in the BCS and No. 7 on the DB Poll.
Meanwhile, Georgia was all but written off from the minds and computers of the college system after beginning the season with two straight losses. The Linemakers Poll had the Bulldogs stick around the teens while they were nowhere to be found for weeks in the BCS. Now Georgia found its way up to No. 16 in the national rankings but they barely drop out of the top-10 to No. 12 on the Linemakers.
After knocking off the Houston Cougars in the Conference USA championship game, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles find themselves ranked No. 21 and No. 22 in the BCS and Don Best Poll, respectively.
There will be wagering opportunities ready for bowl season utilizing the Don Best Linemakers Poll and early one came from the Orange Bowl. Clemson and West Virginia opened as a ‘pick’ even though the Tigers are nine spots higher on the Linemakers Poll. Already the line has moved in Clemson’s favor as they are now 3-point favorites over the Mountaineers.
Finally, Notre Dame and Florida State are two schools in the top-20 on the DB Poll and are not in the top-25 of the BCS. Conversely, Penn State, Texas, and Auburn are ranked in the BCS Standings but not on the Don Best Linemakers Poll.
