Ball State Cardinals: Coach Pete Lembo brings the Cardinals (6-3 straight-up, 7-2 against the spread) into this election-night matchup having won and covered their last three games to keep their slim MAC Championship hopes alive. Ball State's most recent win came about 10 days ago at West Point, where the Cards posted a 30-22 victory as 3-point road underdogs. BSU ranks 22nd nationally, and first among MAC schools, averaging 473.2 yards per game on offense, and is paced by RB Jahwan Edwards (947 yards rushing, 20th in country) and WR Willie Snead (68 catches, 8th in country). The Cardinals have seen six of their nine games this campaign go past the total, though three of the last four have failed to reach the number. Ball State has dropped three straight to Toledo, with its last win coming at the Glass Bowl in 2008 when the Cardinals blanked the Rockets, 31-0.
Toledo Rockets: Coach Matt Campbell's Rockets (8-1 SU, 6-3 ATS) will take the field Tuesday night ranked in the Top 25 of the BCS Standings for the first time since the rankings came on the scene in 1998. Toledo opened the season with a tough loss at Arizona but has since reeled off eight consecutive wins, going a perfect 4-0 at home (3-1 ATS). A victory on Tuesday would put the Rockets in a tie with Northern Illinois for first in the West Division of the MAC. Toledo boasts a balanced offense that is 32nd in the country in total yards (454.7 ypg) and led by RB David Fluellen, who ranks sixth in the nation with 1,181 yards rushing. Five of the Rockets' eight lined games have stayed below the total, but the last three in this series have jumped the scoreboard hurdle.
