New York Knicks: Off to their fastest start in nearly 20 seasons, the Knickerbockers (6-0 straight-up and against the spread) are coming off a 104-100 win at San Antonio on Thursday night behind a game-high 25 points from Raymond Felton while J.R. Smith added 17 off the bench. Carmelo Anthony, the NBA's leading scorer going into that game with an average of 26.8 points, was held to just nine on 3-of-12 shooting from the field. The final score went "over" the 196-point total after failing to top the number in four of New York's previous five games. The Knicks entered Thursday's battle with the Spurs averaging 103.4 ppg (2nd in NBA) while allowing the fewest points (87.8 ppg). Ronnie Brewer, who had left knee surgery in September, tweaked the knee in the win at Orlando but was listed as probable for Thursday's contest (click to check updated NBA injury report).
Memphis Grizzlies: Oklahoma City was the sixth straight victim for the Grizzlies (6-1 SU and ATS), who used a decisive second quarter to post a 107-97 road victory on Wednesday. Rudy Gay netted a team-high 28 points while Zach Randolph added a double-double (20 points, 11 rebounds) in the upset as 5½-point underdogs. The contest skipped past the total, leaving Memphis 5-2 "over" on the season. All three of the team's home games at FedExForum this year have ended in outright victory along with Memphis backers cashing against the spread, two of those three contests failing to reach the total. Friday's matchup will be the first of a back-to-back for the Grizz, who will be in Charlotte on Saturday before beginning a five-game homestand next Monday vs. the Nuggets. Memphis won and covered at home in last season's only meeting vs. New York, a 94-83 decision as 4½-point favorites with the total falling short of the 192½ mark.
