Atlanta Hawks: The Southeast Division lead is on the line Monday when the Hawks (12-5 straight-up, 7-9-1 against the spread) travel to Miami. Atlanta trails the Hawks by a half-game and reaches AmericanAirlines Arena with nine wins in the last 10 trips to the floor, including each of the last three. The Hawks pulled off a solid upset in Memphis on Saturday when they topped the Grizzlies as 7½-point underdogs, 93-83. Josh Smith paced Atlanta with 24 points while Al Horford tallied a double-double (19 points, 14 rebounds). It was the third consecutive road win and cover for the Hawks, who are 5-2 SU and ATS away from home. Kyle Korver is expected to miss his fifth straight game due to back pain, meaning more time for DeShawn Stevenson and Louis Williams in his place at the 2. The Hawks will be looking for revenge after dropping a 95-89 decision at home to the Heat on Nov. 9 as 4-point 'dogs, the only previous meeting this season.
Miami Heat: A mini two-game losing streak was halted by the Heat (13-5 SU, 8-10 ATS) with a 106-90 win at home on Saturday vs. New Orleans. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James combined for 50 points on 20-of-28 shooting from the field, and Miami scored 22 points off Hornets turnovers to beat the 14½-point spread. The contest also just skipped past the total (194) for Miami's third consecutive "over" and sixth in the last seven tilts. A 9-1 home mark is tempered by a level 5-5 record vs. the line, with "over" bettors cashing eight of those 10 affairs. Miami's victory in Atlanta back in November was the fourth straight in this series after the Heat took the final three games between the teams during the strike-shortened 2011-12 campaign. Atlanta's lone victory last season came in the first meeting on this floor, a 100-92 upset as a 9½ 'dog. The last four games played in Miami finished short of the total.
