Hasbrouck, Fisher lead Siena's easy upset of Vanderbilt
TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Siena certainly did not appear to be the 13th seed in Friday's contest.
Kenny Hasbrouck scored 30 points as the Saints outplayed fourth-seeded Vanderbilt from start to finish, earning an 83-62 victory in the first-round matchup out of the Midwest Regional.
Tay Fisher added 19 points off the bench, making all six of his 3-point attempts for Siena, which will face the winner of Clemson and Villanova in the second round on Sunday.
The Saints (23-10) scored the game's first five points and never trailed, using a 10-0 burst later in the first half to take a 28-13 bulge with just over nine minutes left before the break.
The Commodores (26-8) never got closer than seven the rest of the way, and Siena held at least a nine-point advantage for the final 12 1/2 minutes of the game.
